This huge complex on a 14-acre peninsula in Mission Bay Park has studios and suites with kitchens; many have wood-beam ceilings and a tropical theme. The hotel's Victorian-style sternwheeler, the Bahia Belle, offers guests complimentary cruises on the bay at sunset. Room rates are reasonable for a place so well located -- within walking distance of the ocean -- and with so many amenities, including use of the facilities at its sister hotel, the nearby Catamaran.

Expensive, bad managerial response, misleading website, outdated grounds, parking lot with a few good rooms somewhere that you probably won't luck into.
