Best Western Plus Island Palms Hotel & Marina Review

If you have a boat to dock, this waterfront inn is a good choice—the adjacent marina has guest slips. Skylights, a waterfall, and a Thai theme expressed in gilt carvings and golden statues brighten the property's airy lobby. Harbor- and marina-view rooms, decorated in whites and earth tones, are available. Happy hour at Blue Wave, the on-site restaurant, is popular for the inexpensive tacos and margaritas. The hotel operates shuttle service to the cruise ship terminal and train station.

    Two Weeks on Shelter Island

    Just returned from a two week stay at the Best Western Island Palms and it was a wonderful stay. The staff was excellent, and there were freshly baked cookies in the lobby every afternoon at 3pm. I was in one of the newer rooms and it was huge, with a beautiful view of the Harbor. Hearing the Star Spangled Banner every morning from a nearby naval base was an added bonus. It may have been a suite but I paid the standard price. The lobby has a lovely Indonesian decor that helps you relax just by walking through the doors.

    The only fault was the food in the restaurant was not always consistent, but was good more often than not.
