Best Western Island Palms Hotel & Marina Review

This waterfront inn, with an airy lobby brightened by skylights, a waterfall, and a Thai theme expressed in gilt carvings and golden statues, is a good choice if you have a boat to dock: the adjacent marina has guest slips. Both harbor- and marina-view rooms are available and the addition of the Casa Marina wing in July 2009 brought 50 more rooms to the property. Standard accommodations are average size; if you're traveling with family or more than one friend, the two-bedroom suites with kitchens are a good deal. The hotel will ferry guests to the cruise ship terminal and train station. Happy hour at Blue Wave, the on-site restaurant, is popular for the inexpensive tacos and margaritas.

Just returned from a two week stay at the Best Western Island Palms and it was a wonderful stay. The staff was excellent, and there were freshly baked cookies in the lobby every afternoon at 3pm. I was in one of the newer rooms and it was huge, with a beautiful view of the Harbor. Hearing the Star Spangled Banner every morning from a nearby naval base was an added bonus. It may have been a suite but I paid the standard price. The lobby has a lovely Indonesian decor that helps you relax just by walking through the doors.

The only fault was the food in the restaurant was not always consistent, but was good more often than not.
