Market Restaurant + Bar

Fodor's Review:

Carl Schroeder—one of San Diego's hottest young chefs—makes his debut with a restaurant that combines casual mod decor with creative and fun New Califonia fare. The menu changes regularly depending upon what's fresh. The well-heeled foodie crowd digs Schroeder's seasonally inspired dishes that have a playful spirit, whether it's a blue cheese soufflé with seasonal fruit, a Cobb salad with Maine lobster, or a local red rockfish with bay scallops. A well-edited wine list offers food-friendly wines by the best and brightest young winemakers around the world. Desserts are exquisite, such as the lemon soufflé tart with buttermilk ice cream or the milk chocolate panna cotta with espresso caramel.
