Behind a dam constructed in 1888 the 110-acre Lake Cuyamaca offers fishing, boating, picnicking, nature hikes, and wildlife-watching. Anglers regularly catch trout, smallmouth bass, and sturgeon. A shaded picnic area occupies the lakeshore. Families can rent small motorboats, rowboats, and paddleboats by the hour. Free fishing classes for adults and kids are held Saturday at 10 AM. Fishing licenses and advice are available at the tackle shop. Two rental condominiums, three sleeping cabins, 40 RV campsites with hookups, and 10 tent sites are available at Chambers Park with reservations (call Mon.-Thurs.)
