Of all the oceanfront lodgings in North County towns, this hotel occupies the best location—a spit of land surrounded by water and cool ocean breezes on all sides. Depending upon your room selection, you can enjoy the comings and goings of harbor activity, sailors sprucing up their craft, or the waves crashing over the breakwater. The rooms, renovated in 2007 to reflect a Tommy Bahama feel with hardwood floors, floral and leather upholstery, and granite counters in kitchens and bathrooms, are mostly one- and two-bedroom suites. They are unusually large, and have fireplaces and expansive balconies; all have either ocean or harbor views. There are public barbecues for guest use. A free boat shuttles you to the beach on summer weekends. Continental breakfast is included in the price. Pros: Best sunsets in Oceanside, spacious rooms, free parking. Cons: Marina location apt to be busy on weekends.
