With the famous Hotel Del Coronado as a backdrop, this stretch of sandy beach is one of San Diego County's largest and most picturesque. It's perfect for sunbathing, people-watching, or Frisbee. Exercisers include Navy SEAL teams as well as the occasional Marine Recon unit, who do training runs on the beaches in and around Coronado. Parking can be difficult on the busiest days. There are plenty of restrooms and service facilities, as well as fire rings on the north end. Best for: families, long walks, swimming. Amenities: lifeguard year-round, grills/fire pits at north end, parking (free on street), picnic tables, playground, showers, toilets.
