This friendly two-story resort, tucked into a canyon right off the I-15 midway between Temecula and Escondido, offers excellent value and is popular with convention groups and golf enthusiasts. Built in the 1970s, it still has a vague Hawaiian feel, despite many renovations over the years. Large, simply furnished rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows and open-beam ceilings. Most have balconies, some with great fairway, garden, or mountain views. Mature gardens holding azaleas and agapanthus frame grottos, waterfalls, and colorful banks. The resort offers a golf clinic throughout the week. Locals flock to the AquaTerra Restaurant and Sushi Bar for fresh seafood and sushi. Pros: Attractive grounds, spacious rooms, dog-friendly. Cons: Adjacent to freeway, resort's age is showing.
