Moonlight State Beach Review

Large parking areas and lots of facilities make this beach, tucked into a break in the cliffs, an easy getaway. To counterbalance erosion, sand is trucked in every year. The volleyball courts on the north end attract many competent players, including a few professionals who live in the area. It's easily accessible from the Encinitas Coaster train station. Best for: families, solitude, surfing, swimming. Amenities: lifeguard year-round (reduced hours in winter), food concessions in summer, grills/fire pits, parking in lot and on street, picnic tables, playground, showers, toilets.
