An affordable option in often pricey La Jolla, this comfy spot sometimes serves seafood caught that morning by the proprietor. Other than market-priced "fresh catches" and the $21 filet mignon, most items come in under $10, such as grilled mahimahi tacos (served with rice, beans, and a powerful green chili-garlic sauce), grain-fed chicken grilled on a mesquite-fire rotisserie, and "steaming rice bowls" that actually are plates spread with jasmine rice and wok-cooked meats and seafood with a variety of vegetables. This is one of La Jolla's better choices for families.
