In a 70,000-square-foot building, this museum celebrates local jock heroes -- such as baseball great Ted Williams and basketball star Bill Walton -- via a vast collection of memorabilia, uniforms, paintings, photographs, and computer and video displays. An amusing bloopers film is screened at the Sports Theater. The Center Court activity area hosts changing programs -- everything from a Chargers minitraining camp to interactive bobsled races. In keeping with the progressive nature of the San Diego sports community, there are also exhibits of such extreme sports as skateboarding, surfing, and street luge.
