One of San Diego's best beaches encompasses 2,000 acres of bluffs and bird-filled marshes. A network of meandering trails leads to the sandy shoreline below. Along the way enjoy the rare Torrey pine trees, found only here and on Santa Rosa Island, offshore. The large parking lot is rarely full; there are bathrooms, showers, and lifeguards on patrol. Guided tours of the nature preserve here are offered on weekends. Torrey Pines tends to get crowded in summer, but more isolated spots heading south under the cliffs you'll run into isolated Black's Beach.
