Fodor's Review:

LEGOLAND California, the centerpiece of a development that includes resort hotels and a designer discount shopping mall, offers a full day of entertainment with more than 60 rides and attractions for pint-size fun-seekers and their parents. The mostly outdoor experience, which celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2009, is best appreciated by kids ages 2 to 12, who often beg to ride the mechanical horses around the Royal Joust again and again or to take just one more turn through the popular Volvo Jr. Driving School. Miniland USA, an animated collection of U.S. cities and other areas constructed entirely of LEGO bricks, captures the imaginations of all ages. Kids get a chance to dig for buried fossils on Dino Island, which holds the Dig Those Dinos paleontological play area as well as the Coastersaurus, a junior roller coaster. At the Fun Town Fire Academy, families compete at fire fighting by racing in a model fire truck and hosing down a simulated burning building. Also in Fun Town, besides the driving school, with miniature cars, is the Skipper School, with miniature boats. In Pirate Shores, kids cruise through pirate-infested waters past exploding volcanoes; Treasure Falls, a mini-flume log ride with a 12-foot soaking plunge; and Splash Battle, water-fight headquarters. Lost Kingdom Adventure, LEGOLAND'S first dark ride (meaning indoors) and part of a new four-ride block, features the adventures of popular LEGO mini-figure Johnny Thunder battling the bad guys in an Egyptian temple with the help of riders using laser blasters to accumulate points and ultimately capture Sam Sinister and find the treasure. In 2009, the 128-acre park debuted the Egyptian-theme Dune Raiders, a 30-foot-high slide with six side-by-side racing lanes. Also part of the mix are stage shows and restaurants with kid-friendly buffets.
