Seaport Village

Fodor's Review:

Quintessentially San Diego, this waterfront complex of more than 60 shops and restaurants has sweeping bay views, fresh breezes, and great strolling paths. Horse and carriage rides, an 1895 Looff carousel, and frequent public entertainment are side attractions. The Seaport is within walking distance of hotels, the San Diego Convention Center, and San Diego Trolley, and there's also an easily accessible parking lot with two hours free with purchase validation. Discover Nature (619/231-1299) is where you can find gifts for the office, wind chimes, and jewelry. Kite Flite (877/234-8229) carries a huge inventory of kites in every size, shape, and price range, and they'll let you try before you buy. Latitudes (619/235-0220) sells casual beachwear for men and women. San Diego Surf Co. (619/696-8967) has all the top brands in beachwear and surf apparel. Seaport Village Shell Company (619/234-1004) carries shells, coral, jewelry, and craft items. Upstart Crow (619/232-4855) offers a terrific selection of books, journals, gifts, and greeting cards. The outdoor coffee bar is great for people-watching while you grab a snack. Wyland Galleries (619/544-9995) offers the marine-life art of Wyland; there's another branch in La Jolla.
