Westfield UTC Review

This popular outdoor mall on the east side of I–5 has more than 150 shops and 28 eateries, plus an ArcLight Cinemas and an ice-skating rink. Nordstrom, Macy's, and Sears anchor the center, and specialty stores of note include Charles David (858/625–0275), for high-fashion women's shoes; Naartjie (858/625–0940), for children's clothing and accessories; Chuao Chocolatier (858/546–1463), for artisanal chocolates; and Toys, Etc. (858/459–5104), for dolls, train sets, games, and educational toys. One of the country's greenest shopping centers, UTC has lush gardens, open-air plazas, and pedestrian-friendly walkways. Additional eco-friendly cred: Tesla, maker of electric automobiles, shows off its models here.

Papyrus. Stop in for a wide selection of San Diego postcards, whimsical note cards, gifts, and fine stationery. 858/458–1399.

Toys, Etc. Children of all ages will delight in the dolls, train sets, games, and educational toys sold at this well-stocked store. 4373 La Jolla Village Dr., 92037. 858/459–5104.
