La Jolla's ocean-view destination restaurant includes three dining areas: California Modern on the bottom floor, George's Bar in the middle, and Ocean Terrace on the roof. Hollywood types and other visiting celebrities can be spotted at California Modern, the sleek main dining room with its wall of windows. Elegant preparations of fresh seafood, tender beef, and California lamb reign, which star-chef Trey Foshee enlivens with amazing local produce. Give special consideration to the legendary “fish tacos.” Two levels of tasting menus are available; but the four-course offering generally is perfect for pocketbook and palate. For a more casual and inexpensive experience, go to the indoor/outdoor George's Bar, where you can enjoy pastas and grilled fish while watching a game, or head upstairs to the outdoor-only Ocean Terrace for spectacular views of La Jolla Cove.

Cannot remember the last time my family and I were so poorly treated. I have never had the opportunity to become a personal friend of George's, which means the empty table available after a two plus hour wait went to a friend of his who had no reservation instead of my hungry, patient family--rude move George; and discussing the decision in earshot of the guest you deemed less important was very lowbrow and showed your lack of true hospitality.
And pretending the food is great ( and I suspect it could be) when you cannot taste the food due to overpowering stench of animal waste is laughable. I am disappointed I found so few honest reviews of the truth of a smelly, pretentious place taking advantage of tourists looking for a great San Diego dining experience.
