Fodor's Review

This small, bustling fish market and café in the heart of La Jolla village has been popular popular with locals for its super-fresh fish for more than 30 years. Order the char-grilled, locally caught halibut, swordfish, or yellowtail on a toasted torta roll to enjoy in-house or to-go for an oceanfront picnic at nearby La Jolla Cove. Other delicious choices include seafood cocktails, ceviche, Dungeness crab and shrimp salad, and fish and shrimp tacos. Seating is limited

during the lunch hours, and tables often are shared, but the food is worth the wait. Check the website for the current address; a move is planned across the street to a larger location.

El Pescador Review

This is one of the best seafood markets and doubles as a small (very small) restaurant. All the guys who work there are locals. You can see the fish delivered through the back door. All the fish is prepared on site. I think their fish tacos are the best. The fish used depends on what the best catch of the day. It is a tiny place with little seating - so it is best to go at odd hours if you plan to eat there. You can also order fish from the

fish counter.
