Fodor's Review:
After the Franciscan Fathers of Mission San Gabriel built it in 1830, the Asistencia Mission de San Gabriel functioned as a mission only for a few years. In 1834 it became part of a Spanish-colonial rancho; later the mission served as a school and a factory and was finally purchased by the county, which restored it in 1937. The landscaped courtyard contains an old Spanish mission bell; one building holds a small museum.
