California Western Railroad Skunk Train

California Western Railroad Skunk Train Review

Following the same coastal route between Fort Bragg and Willits since 1885, the Skunk Train winds along the Noyo River, crosses some 30 bridges and passes through two tunnels in this scenic trip into the redwoods. The gas-powered locomotive replaced the steam engine on this train in 1925. Locals say, "You can smell 'em before you can see 'em." Hence, the nickname. Most round trips take 4-5 hours.
