The Parker Palm Springs

4200 E. Palm Canyon Dr., Palm Springs, California, 92264, United States

A cacophony of color and over-the-top contemporary art assembled by New York City–based designer Jonathan Adler mixes well with the brilliant desert garden, two pools, fire pits, and expansive spa of this hip hotel that attracts a stylish, worldly clientele. You can find relaxation around the pools, if nowhere else—pulsating music fills the air throughout the resort—and comfy nooks are scattered throughout the gardens. Rooms have textured sisal floor coverings, exotic woven fabrics in bright reds and browns, and leather seating. All have private balconies or patios (with hammocks) that are secluded behind tall shrubs. The massive villas, a splurge, are an essay in style, with woven wall hangings, white poster beds, wooden swings, and large private patios. The clubby restaurant, Mister Parker's ($$$$), will delight any well-heeled carnivore. The more subdued Norma's caters to families and those seeking comfort food.
