Fodor's Review:

Noted for its abundant birdlife, this is an example of the palm-shaded oases that were a welcome sight to prospectors traveling through the area. The remains of an arrastra, a primitive type of gold mill, can be found nearby. Bighorn sheep frequent this area in winter. Take the 1-mi paved trail that begins at sites 13A and 13B of the Cottonwood Campground.
