The service is personal and gracious at this large, Western-style B&B a few steps from the Desert Museum and Heritage Center. Spacious studios and one- and two-bedroom suites are furnished simply. Some have fireplaces, and most have kitchens. The homey rooms are in four buildings surrounding courtyards lushly landscaped with bougainvillea and citrus trees. There are also two adobe cottages, one of which was the desert home of opera singer Lawrence Tibbett. Pros: Good family digs, two pools, quiet. Cons: Old buildings, limited amenities.
