In 1946 Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, and Russ Hayden built Pioneertown, an 1880s-style Wild West movie set complete with hitching posts, saloon, and an OK Corral. Today 250 people call the place home, even as film crews continue shooting. You can stroll past wooden and adobe storefronts and feel like you're back in the Old West. The new owners of Pappy & Harriet's have started building an outdoor concert venue for about 500 people and have started booking popular bands and singers. Gunfights are staged April through November, Saturday at 1 and 2 and Sunday at 2:30.
