Fodor's Review:

Desert gardens of mesquite, ocotillo, and creosote surround adobe Southwestern-style buildings. Spacious rooms with plenty of natural light hold original art. Amenities include lodge pole-pine beds with down comforters, walk-in showers with garden views, and double futons facing corner fireplaces. Every room opens onto its own enclosed garden with chaises, chairs, and table. The inn offers an extensive menu of spa services. Pros: Swim under the stars in the clothing-optional pool, exquisite desert gardens. Cons: Potential street noise in season, not a good choice for families with young children.

As "regulars" know, the Borrego Valley Inn went through a rough patch between Don and Mary and the new (about one year) owners, Rich and Gwenn. Suffice it to say that the Inn is back to its former self, perhaps even a bit more hospitable, if that is possible. The Inn provides every possible comfort without being chi-chi, and the owners and staff are genuinely solicitous of visitors' wants and needs.
The setting itself is glorious, and you can literally walk out the back door and find trails along the hills, and up over the ridge in the park itself. Of course, once you are settled by the pool, it is tempting just to breathe deeply and stay put.
Highly recommended and well worth the drive from LA or Orange County.
