Palm Springs and Joshua Tree National Park Nightlife

View all »

Desert nightlife is casual—no brawny bouncers or velvet ropes here. It's concentrated and abundant in Palm Springs, where there are many straight and gay bars and clubs. The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies—a vaudeville-style revue starring retired professional performers—is a must-see. Arts festivals occur on a regular basis, especially in winter and spring. The "Desert Guide" section of Palm Springs Life magazine (available at hotels and visitor information centers) has nightlife listings, as does the "Weekender" pullout in the Friday edition of the Desert Sun newspaper. The gay scene is covered in the Bottom Line and in the Gay Guide to Palm Springs, published by the Desert Gay Tourism Guild.
