Hermosa Hotel and Catalina Cottages

Book NowHermosa Hotel and Catalina Cottages Review
This historic 1890s hotel offers small rooms with shared baths and plenty of charm and character. If you're looking for luxury or amenities, this may not be the place for you. Cottage with basic kitchen facilities and cooking essentials are more spacious and comfortable; you can also request one of the more updated rooms, which have heat, a/c, and private baths. A few suites with private entrances, full kitchens, and private baths sleep six and are ideal for families or groups. The beach is half a block away. Pros : quiet enforced after 10 pm; kitchenettes available; reasonably priced; nearby grocery store. Cons : no frills; some shared bathrooms; some rooms lack heating and/or a/c.

This was our 3rd time in Catalina and had never stayed at the Hermosa Hotel before. Previously, we spent approximately $600 for a 2 night stay, elsewhere but we heard about the Hermosa hotel from a local diver and called them up for this trip.... SWEET! We only paid exactly $347.2 for a summer 2 night weekend in one of their better remodeled rooms. (Still very basic. Don't think it had more than 1 picture on the wall, ha)
The unit we stayed in was called the B+, which had a new tiled shower like you'd see @ Holiday Inn. The rest of the bathroom was new as well, the floor was carpeted, the walls were white. Other amenities were a mini-fridge and a microwave (Coffee is in the lobby every morning).
This was the only hotel I've been to where I remembered the employee's names; Gina, John (Goes by 'Hub' and an amazing pool player), Mindy and Mark, the owner. THey Are All RElated! It's a family hotel- They made the stay for sure.
We paid half the price and had less luxurious room than our previous stays but we got more out of it. For a minute I actually got jealous that another couple at the counter was laughing with the employees. I was thinking to myself, "Hey, those are my hotel friends"!
I highly recommend this hotel; not because the rooms are fantastic because they are nothing fancy at all; but because of the environment, cheap rooms, awesome staff; the price is unbeatable.
I scored everything a 5 less then rooms. The rooms get a 3. We saved $300 on the hotel... We came in way under budget. Last trip we spent about $1200, but this time we spent about $700.
OH! And let the managers tell you where to eat! They are Right! Ask about dollar taco's and $4 margaritas- HOW COME NO ONE TOLD US BEFORE; It Was amazing. That's one way we stayed way under budget, haha. Only the locals know about it, so ask!
I could go on! We had a great time.
