Train Travel in Oakland and Berkeley

BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit, formally) trains make stops in downtown Berkeley and in several parts of Oakland, including Rockridge. Use the Lake Merritt station for the Oakland Museum and southern Lake Merritt; the Oakland City Center-12th Street station for downtown, Chinatown, and Old Oakland; and the 19th Street station for the Paramount Theatre and the north side of Lake Merritt. From the Berkeley (not North Berkeley) station, walk a block up Center Street to get to the western edge of campus. Both trips take 30 to 45 minutes one way from the center of San Francisco.
