Respected chef Paul Bertolli is at the helm of this locally renowned eatery that anchors Market Hall in the Rockridge neighborhood. The first-class dining room ($-$$$) upstairs serves straightforward Italian cuisine; the menu changes daily but might include house-made duck prosciutto, pan-seared swordfish, or spit-roasted leg of lamb. Downstairs, in the terra-cotta-walled café ($-$$), everything from a morning espresso to pizza to a full-blown Italian meal (at half the upstairs price) can be enjoyed at one of the small tables or at the bar.

Chef Curtis DiFede went out of his way to make sure we were happy with our food. He is an excellent chef and made our experience the best meal I've ever eaten. I will return but I'll call to make sure he doesn't have the night off.
