Napa and Sonoma Travel Guide

Visitor Information

To begin your pretrip planning, visit the websites of the Wine Country's official tourism bureaus, Visit Napa Valley and Visit Sonoma. Three visitor centers are worth checking out while you're in the Wine Country: the California Welcome Center in Santa Rosa, the Napa Valley Welcome Center in downtown Napa, and the Sonoma Valley Visitors Center in Sonoma Plaza.

The Discover California Wines website, run by the California-based Wine Institute, has information about many Napa and Sonoma wineries in its North Coast section. Other websites with useful winery information include those of the Alexander Valley Winegrowers, the Carneros Wine Alliance, the Heart of Sonoma Valley Winery Association, the Napa Valley Vintners Association, the Russian River Wine Road, Sonoma County Vintners, the Sonoma Valley Vintners & Growers Alliance, the West Sonoma Coast Vintners, and the Winegrowers of Dry Creek Valley.

Many wineries require reservations for tours, seminars, and even tastings, which is why VinoVisit has become so popular. You can book these through this website, as well as plan your entire itinerary. Wine Country and Winery Finder, two good mobile apps available through iTunes, Google Play, and other vendors, give you discounts on tasting fees and provide information about restaurants.
