Fodor's Review

A winery steeped in history, St. Clement is blessed with such winning views of nearby vineyards and Howell Mountain beyond that you might drift into reverie even before tasting the signature Bordeaux-style blend, Oroppas. That's Sapporo spelled backward—the Japanese brewery once owned this property whose centerpiece, the 1878 Rosenbaum House, built in the Italianate style, looms over Highway 29. Fritz Rosenbaum, the wealthy merchant who commissioned it, purchased the surrounding land from his neighbor, the wine-maker Charles Krug. Seated tastings that include St. Clement's highly rated Oroppas and single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons unfold inside the 1970s stone winery behind the house.
