Fodor's Review

A two-story cascade of crumpled ruby-red Radio Flyer wagons—meant to mimic wine pouring out of a bottle—grabs immediate attention inside this swank industrial space, a showcase for the distinguished Pinot Noirs of namesake winemaker James MacPhail. The wagons represent family and continuity to MacPhail, who, peers sometimes joke, "never met a vineyard he didn't like." Maybe so, but he knows how to pick them. His bright, classy Pinots, none of which taste alike, fully express their places of origin, which include Oregon's Willamette Valley, Mendocino County's Anderson Valley, several prime Sonoma County spots, and the Santa Rita Hills of California's Central Coast. MacPhail also makes Chardonnay and Rosé (of Pinot Noir, of course).
