The signature treatment at this locally beloved spa is a traditional Japanese detoxifying bath. After sipping the preparatory diuretic herbal tea, you'll slip into a deep redwood tub filled with damp cedar shavings and rice bran naturally heated by the action of enzymes. Attendants bury you up to the neck, and throughout the 20-minute session bring sips of water and place cool cloths on your forehead. After a shower, you can lie down and listen to brain-balancing music through headphones or have a massage, perhaps in one of the creek-side pagodas, or a facial. Reservations are recommended.
