Fodor's Southern California 2014
Frog's Leap Review
John Williams, owner of Frog's Leap, maintains a goofy sense of humor about wine that translates into an entertaining yet informative experience—if you're a novice, this is the perfect place to begin your education. You'll also taste some fine Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé, and Frögenbeerenauslese, a variation on the German dessert wine Trockenbeerenauslese. The winery includes a red barn built in 1884, 5 acres of organic gardens, an eco-friendly visitor center, and, naturally, a frog pond topped with lily pads. The fun tour ($20; call ahead) is highly recommended, but you can also just sample wines while seated on a porch overlooking the garden.
