Napa and Sonoma Sights

Merryvale Vineyards

Merryvale Vineyards Review

Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon are this ivy-covered winery's claims to fame, though you'll also find Pinot Noir and Merlot. For the full Merryvale experience, reserve a spot in the weekend Wine Component Tasting seminar ($50). A walk through the winery concludes in the enchanting Cask Room, where guides focus on wine's essential components—sugar, alcohol, acid, and tannins—and discuss how the vintner achieves the perfect balance. The Historic Tour & Barrel Tasting ($35) provides insights into Napa Valley wine making following the repeal of Prohibition. The red Meritage blend called Profile is the top-of-the-line wine, and it's worth asking if there is an open bottle around so you can taste it.
