The three brothers Korbel (Joseph, Francis, and Anton) planted Pinot Noir grapes in the Russian River Valley in the 1870s, pioneering efforts that are duly noted on 50-minute tours of the well-known brand's Guerneville facility. Tours include a clear explanation of the méthode champenoise used to make the company's sparkling wines, a walk through ivy-covered 19th-century buildings, and tastings of Korbel's reasonably priced bubblies and still wines. You can also
taste without touring. If you have the time, take a spin through the rose garden, home to more than 250 varieties.
