Fodor's Review

The outrageously ornate French Normandy–style castle visible from the highway might persuade you to visit Ledson Winery even before you know it produces lovely wines, all of which are available only at the estate and at the wine bar at the Ledson Hotel & Centre Du Vin in downtown Sonoma. Although the winery's total production is only about 30,000 cases a year, Ledson offers several dozen largely single-varietal wines—everything from California standbys such as

Zinfandel to Rhône varietals such as Syrah and Mourvèdre. The castle, intended as the Ledson family's home when its construction began in 1989, is now a warren of tasting rooms, special-event spaces, and a small market selling a good selection of cheeses and other picnic supplies.
