A huge blue Adirondack chair on the east side of the road marks the way to this willful jumble of galleries, tasting rooms, and design and gift shops set amid 9 acres of landscape installations and outdoor sculptures. The sight of brides and bridesmaids scurrying along dirt-and-gravel paths to the weddings and receptions often held here adds to the visual mix. Sometimes closed a bit early on weekends when there are special events, the gardens are worth a 20-minute stroll.
Of the tasting rooms, Meadowcroft is the best (ask to sample the Mt. Veeder Cabernet). The Park 121 Café is a fine stop for coffee or for lunch. The Sonoma Valley Visitors Bureau office, near Meadowcroft, has coupons for free or discounted tastings in the western Carneros.
