Alexander Valley Vineyards
Alexander Valley Vineyards Review
The 1841 homestead of Cyrus Alexander, for whom the valley is named, is now the site of mellow Alexander Valley Vineyards. The place is known for its Chardonnays, Cabernet Sauvignons, and trio of Zinfandel wines, including the widely distributed Sin Zin. The standard tasting is free, but consider opting for the reserve tasting ($10) to sample the single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, the Bordeaux blend called Cyrus, and other award-winning wines. From April to August, a $25 wine-and-cheese pairing is offered. A tour takes in the winery and wine caves dug deep into a nearby hillside; there's a lovely picnic area nearby. Check on the winery's website for a printable coupon good for free reserve tastings.
