Iron Chef star Masuharu Morimoto, owner of eponymous restaurants around the world, is the big name behind this hot spot in downtown Napa. Organic materials like twisting grapevines above the bar and rough-hewn wooden tables seem simultaneously earthy and modern, which seems a fitting setting for the gorgeously plated Japanese fare, from super-fresh sashimi served with grated fresh wasabi to elaborate concoctions like sea-urchin carbonara, made with udon noodles. For the full experience, consider leaving the choice up to the chef with the omakase menu ($120 and up). If no tables are available, you can order many dishes in the lounge, where a young and lively crowd drinks specialty cocktails along with quirky fare like the pork skins, peanut butter, and wasabi-powder appetizer.
