Stryker Sonoma Review
The tasting room's vaulted ceilings and walls of windows onto the vineyards suggest nothing less than a cathedral to viniculture, and the wines are nearly as impressive as the architecture. Most of them are single varietals, such as Chardonnay, Merlot, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and the lush, highly tannic Tannat, whose grapes come from the Basque area of France and Spain. The exceptions are a few Bordeaux-style blends, including the powerful E1K, which, unfortunately, is not usually poured in the tasting room. Call ahead to book a spot on a tour that concludes on the observation deck overlooking the vineyards. In summer the picnic area is a marvelous place to bask in the warmth and quiet of the Alexander Valley countryside.
