Napa and Sonoma Restaurants

Calistoga Inn Restaurant and Brewery

Updated 01/20/2013

Fodor's Review

On pleasant days this riverside restaurant and its sprawling, tree-shaded patio come into their own. At lunchtime, casual plates like a grilled-turkey-and-Brie sandwich or a vegetarian black-bean chili are light enough to leave some energy for an afternoon of wine tasting. And at night, when there's often live jazz played on the patio during the warm months, you'll find heartier dishes such as braised lamb shank or Sonoma duck breast with a fennel-and-Parmesan stuffing.

Service can be a bit lackadaisical, so order one of the house-made brews and enjoy the atmosphere while you're waiting.

Lovely atmosphere

My husband and I ate here in July after a day of winery tours. We loved the outdoor dining (since at home it's too humid in the summer to eat outside) We enjoyed several of the brewed beers-it was a welcome change for our wine-worn palates. I loved the endive/gorgonzola and pear salad and I had an interesting gnocchi and fresh veggie dish. I don't think I would order it again, but it did not detract from the experience. Our server was busy, but

did not lack in attentiveness.

A wonderful way to start your day

We had lunch at this quaint establishment and it was divine. The menu items sounded so delicious, it was hard to make a selection. My turkey and brie sandwich was great and enough to share. Also, the cheesecake with strawberry sauce was shared by three! Excellent lunch.
