At this cheerful, sun-filled space, tables topped with flowers stand on an old-fashioned black-and-white checkerboard floor. The California-style bistro's seasonal menu might include risotto with seared scallops and shiitake mushrooms, fettuccine puttanesca, or flavorful lasagna. Among the homey desserts are a perfectly executed vanilla-bean crème brûlée and a warm dark-chocolate torte. You can order reasonably priced wines from the extensive list, or buy a bottle at the attached shop and have it poured at your table. Attentive service contributes to the welcoming atmosphere.
