Beltane Ranch Review

On a slope of the Mayacamas range a few miles from Glen Ellen, this 1892 ranch house, shaded by magnificent oak trees, contains charmingly old-fashioned rooms, each individually decorated with antiques and original artwork by noted artists. Rooms also have exterior entrances, and some open onto a wraparound balcony ideal for whiling away lazy afternoons, perhaps with a glass of the estate-grown Sauvignon Blanc. A bountiful breakfast, included in the price, incorporates produce from the on-site gardens, as well as eggs from the resident chickens. To walk off breakfast, you can stroll trails winding through the ranch's vineyards and gardens.

    Beltane Ranch Review

    Grounds are beautiful but rooms are ratty. Grungy plastic shower stalls and mildew on the bathroom ceiling subtract from the ambience. The property has been in the family for 80 years, but the proprietress is not the type of person who should be running a B&B. The guests appear to be a burden for her.
