Meadowood Napa Valley Review

Originally founded in 1964 as a private country club, Meadowood has grown to become both a five-star resort and a gathering place for the local winemaking community—as well as one of Napa's most celebrated dining destinations. A rambling lodge and several gray clapboard bungalows are scattered across the sprawling property, giving it an exclusive New England feel. Everything runs seamlessly, starting with the gatehouse staff, who alert the front desk about arrivals. Exquisite guest rooms have views over the wooded grounds from expansive windows. Cozy fireplaces—as well as supremely comfortable beds—defy you to get up and pursue the golf, tennis, hiking, croquet (yes, croquet), or other activities. Under Chef Christopher Kostow, The Restaurant at Meadowood has become a top regional restaurant, winning high praise from critics and foodies, and three stars from Michelin (making Kostow one of the youngest chefs to earn this honor). Plans are underway to transform the spa into a destination as world-class as all the other facilities.

2010 Fodor's 100 Hotel Award Winner

In the heart of the Napa Valley, chef Christopher Kostow commands the kitchen at the Restaurant at Meadowood, where California cuisine is presented at its best. The emphasis here is on seasonal, sustainable, and local ingredients. Dishes in the set menus are intended to highlight the natural beauty and bursting-forth flavors of their ingredients.

    Just Like a Princess

From the moment I drive through grapefields and pass through the guarded entrygate, I feel like a princess returning home to my castle. The rooms at Meadowood are woodsy and wonderful. Attention to detail is what makes this resort one of the top in the country. I don't ever feel like leaving. The grounds are immaculate, the gym small, yet complete and the service, sublime. I enjoy the afternoon wine and cheese, after all, I am in WINE country. Treat yourself, indulge and enjoy!! Worth every penny!!
