LaSalette Review

Born in the Azores and raised in Sonoma, chef-owner Manuel Azevedo serves dishes inspired by his native Portugal in this warmly decorated spot. The best seats are on a patio along an alleyway off Sonoma Plaza. Such boldly flavored dishes as pork tenderloin recheado, stuffed with olives and almonds and topped with a port sauce, might be followed by a dish of rice pudding with Madeira-braised figs or a port from the varied list. The daily seafood specials are also well worth a try.

    Excellent Lunch and Service

My friend and I were recommended by three different establishments to eat at LaSalette, so we stopped by for lunch. They serve Portuguese inspired food, so this would be new for us. We were warmly greated and sat on their patio which was very nice. The menu is extensive. They offer lunch specials along with the menu that is offered at dinner. My friend had the Bacalah (salt cod caserole) and loved it. I tried the tripe, then the Halibut special. Both were out of this world. Our waitress was very knowledable about the food and attentive. We actually went to a few other restaurant but came back to LaSalette. This restaurant was impossible to beat. I highly recommend this restaurant.

    A mixed review

My meal (Portuguese fish stew) was excellent, but my wife rated her Paella as merely ok. The mussels weren't opened, so she thought they were bad, but the waitress said the kitchen hadn't heated them through, took them back and brought cooked ones. Also, there was none of the crustiness to the rice that one would expect from a properly prepared Paella. Maybe the Portuguese do it differently than the Spanish?
