La Playa Hotel Review

Norwegian artist Christopher Jorgensen built this property's original structure in 1902 for his bride, a member of the Ghirardelli-chocolate clan. The property has since undergone many additions and now resembles a Mediterranean estate. Rooms are small but comfortable, with furnishings in muted colors; some have views of gardens or the ocean. You can also opt for a cottage; most have full kitchens and wood-burning fireplaces, and all have patios or terraces.

    Hotel Amenities

We stayed here for my birthday, I chose the hotel because I love the older Historic Hotels. La Playa was wonderful, I enjoyed the meticulously groomed gardens and flowers everywhere, the nice pool area for lounging and sunning and a great breakfast at the hotel in their restaurant called the Terrace Grill.
Our room was upstairs and had view of the gardens and ocean, the room was very small but nicely appointed and I like the colors of the seafoam green and coral. We found the front desk to be very helpful, we booked under the Wine Country package that included a bottle of Morgan Pinot Noir that was sent to our room upon arrival with a colorful vase of flowers.
Nice location also, walking distance to the beach and shops. We loved our stay here and will return.
