The most-photographed tree along 17-Mile Drive is the weather-sculpted Lone Cypress, which grows out of a precipitous outcropping above the waves about 1 1/2 mi up the road from Pebble Beach Golf Links. You can stop for a view of the Lone Cypress at a parking area, but you can't walk out to the tree.

It is worth the drive through Pebble Beach to see this tree, it is a tourist spot so it will probably have lots of people around it year-round, but it is truely majestic! My husband and I went to see it on a gloomy sullen afternoon and it was so beautiful then too, even in the rain.
