Passionfish Review

South American artwork and artifacts decorate Passionfish, and Latin and Asian flavors infuse the dishes. Chef Ted Walter shops at local farmers' markets several times a week to find the best produce, fish, and meat available, then pairs it with creative sauces. The menu might include sea scallops with tomato-truffle butter and savory rice pudding.

    Disappointing

The tables are very close together and rooms are small and noisy. The food wasn't as good this time as when we ate there before, some very spicy some bland and bnot well cooked. But the noise was the worst. Ate fast and skipped dessert so we could leave. I don't recommend it

    Great meal, well-priced wines

We had a great meal at Passionfish. Fish, pork, & duck were all excellent and interesting. Great wine list with real-world prices. One high-end Pinot Noir was less than HALF the price being charged at Bouchee. We won't be going back to Bouchee, but we can't wait to come back to Passionfish. Service was also very friendly, efficient and professional. Highly recommended.

    Best meal of the trip!

Read the other reviews. We agree. The owners really know how to run a restaurant. We would run, not walk, back again.
The food was exciting and fresh. The flavors were well thought out and, although my mussel appetizer was just a bit "hot" even for my taste. But that did not keep us from enjoying the entire meal. My spouse's oyster dish with a cucumber dressing was out of this world!
They have a VERY friendly wine list - just about retail plus $5 or $10. We are wine drinkers and collectors, so we know what "retail" should be in a wine shop and can comfortably decide when we are getting a good deal or are being overcharged. Not a chance of an overcharge here.
If you go, ask for Meridy as your waitperson - she is delightful, knowledgable, and will answer all your qwuestions cheerfully. She should be cloned for other restaurants.
We can't wait to go back, even though it means another trip to California. Tough job, but someone's got to do it.
