Fodor's Review

American Cinemathèque screens classic and independent films at two theaters, the Aero and the Egyptian. Expect everything from Hitchcock thrillers, to anime by Hayao Miyazaki, plus occasional Q&A sessions with directors and actors following film screenings. The Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood has the distinction of hosting the first-ever movie premiere when it opened back in 1922. Its ornate courtyard and columns have been restored to preserve the building's history. The Aero Theatre in Santa Monica opened in 1940.
