A white-wood sunflower with swirling vines and petals covers the wall at Girasol creating a woodsy and cozy mood to complement the seasonally driven menu. Found along a busy street made up of apartments, condos, and strip malls, Girasol is a "Valley" favorite thanks to its chef CJ Jacobson (of Top Chef fame) who celebrates California's sunny days and year-round Farmers Market. Start with the rustic beets and berries that is served atop whipped Soledad goat cheese, leafy herbs and hazlenuts or the Frog Hollow pears with burrata, crispy lentils and basil. For dinner, the whole fried red snapper with kumquats and sorrel is a crowd pleaser or the braised leg of lamb with crispy brussels, charred juniper, parsnip puree and huckleberry. Leave room for the wild acorn panna cotta with whipped creme fraiche and a wild sage shortbread, it won't disappoint your inner wood nymph.
