Maison 140

Fodor's Review:

Colonial chic reigns in this three-story, 1930s spot, Beverly Hills' most grandly designed boutique hotel. The look mixes French and Far East with gleaming antiques, textured wallpaper, and colorfully painted rooms. (These dramatic visuals compensate for compact rooms and bathrooms.) Refinements include down comforters and fine linens and bathrobes. Take advantage of the pool and restaurant at the sister property, the Avalon hotel, 1 mi away. Beverly Hills's golden triangle of shopping is within close walking distance. The hotel's ebony and blood-red Bar Noir inspires intrigue. Pros: ultimate boutique stay, eye-catching design, short walk to all Beverly Hills shopping. Cons: few amenities, room service from another hotel, 100% smoke-free.
