Hotel Maya - a Doubletree Hotel Review

Formerly the Coast Long Beach, this waterfront property set on 11 acres gets a second lease on life as Hotel Maya. The high-ceiling lobby and outdoor areas are outfitted with painted tiles, pebbled walkways, and orange and fuchsia accents. Rooms are equally colorful and chic, thanks to textured wallpapers, lime-green shutter-style blinds, and blue throw pillows. All rooms come with balconies, too; ask for an ocean view as some rooms look into the parking area. The long pool is perfect for sunning or sipping margaritas (the hotel bar stocks 200 types of tequila) in private cabanas. Dine alfresco at Fuego, the Mexican-inspired restaurant, overlooking the harbor, the nearby Queen Mary, and downtown Long Beach. A seasonal water taxi and year-round shuttle provide public transport to downtown Long Beach, across the harbor.
